National Youth Games: Team Lagos Pick Hockey Ticket At Zonal Elimination In Ibadan

Team Lagos have picked a ticket to contest in Hockey event at the 2021 National Youth Games which holds in Ilorin next month.


The Lagos male hockey team led the medal table at the just concluded Southwest States Zonal Elimination held in Ibadan, Oyo State between 1-3 September, 2021.


P.M. EXPRESS reports that five of the six states in the southwest participated in the female hockey at the zonal elimination. The states are Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Ekiti and Osun States.

Team Lagos won a total of 10 points in four games to top the table, while Teams Ondo and Oyo followed with 6 points each to pick second and third positions respectively.

In the female hockey, Team Lagos could only settled for the second position behind Team Oyo. The second position fell short of the bid to pick ticket for the Youth Games in that category. It was however Team Oyo that will be representing the southwest at the Youth Games.

Team Lagos competed for eight Team Sports (Basketball (Male and Female), Football (Male and Female), Handball (Male and Female), Volleyball and Beach Volleyball (Male and Female), Rugby (Male and Female), Hockey (Male and Female) and Cricket (Male and Female) at the zonal elimination ahead of the 6th National Youths Games coming up in Ilorin Kwara State from 10th-20th October.
