A child-seeking man, Ifeanyi Chibueze, has been swindled in Lagos State after he gave a native doctor N18m to secure his wife’s pregnancy, so that she will be delivered of a baby but it turned out to be a scam.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the native doctor, Pedro Olalekan, has been arrested.

The incident happened at Ogundare Street, Alagbado area of Lagos, where the 47-year old Olalekan obtained the money and absconded.

According to Police sources, the victim’s wife was having miscarriage and he was introduced to Olalekan, who promised to provide some traditional herbal treatment to prevent the wife from having further miscarriage.

The victim paid the money and was waiting for the treatment to no avail; the native doctor disconnected from him and did not return the money either.

It was also gathered that the condition of the wife became worse and it became obvious that he has been defrauded.

The matter was reported to the Police and he was trailed and arrested by the Police at Alagbado Division to refund the money since he cannot provide the treatment as promised. At that point, he said he had spent the money with his group meaning he obviously scammed the victim.

Having been found culpable, the purported native doctor was charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.

When he was arraigned, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Innocent Odugbo, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, L.A. Owolabi granted him bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum while the matter was adjourned till 17th February, 2022, for mention.

The defendant was remanded in custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
