NDDC Should Invite SYF & ONC To The Stakeholders Summit – Says Amb. Comrade Emeni Ibe

Posted on July 2, 2024

The leadership of the Southern Youth Foundation of Nigeria and Orashi National Congress has called on the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, to extend invitations to the groups for the forthcoming Niger Delta Stakeholders Summit, scheduled to hold from 10th to 13th July 2024.

As critical stakeholders in the Niger Delta region, the groups, SYF and ONC, believe that since the summit is targeted to develop strategies for economic growth and development of the region, the Commission should extend invitations to them to actively participate in the discussions.

In a statement to newsmen in Port Harcourt on Tuesday 2nd July, 2024, on behalf of the groups, Amb. Comrade Emeni Ibe said, “We wish to use this medium to commend the Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Chief Dr Samuel Ogbuku, for his genuine commitment to the cause of the region and deeming it worthy to convene a Stakeholders Summit”.

“At different times, our groups had passed a vote of confidence on his leadership of the development commission because we were certain he had the capability and capacity to articulate the roadmap for sustainable development of the Niger Delta Region.”

“And according to the NDDC MD, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, the importance of the stakeholders engagement is to ensure that projects and activities of government are well understood by the people of the region while equally giving the people opportunities for conversations to discuss development plans in order to ensure that the people keyed into the Renewed Hope Agenda for sustainable development.”

“Thus, stakeholders like the SYF and ONC should be invited to participate in the process and contribute their quota in the discussions. We therefore, use this medium to call on the NDDC MD and the organisers of the Stakeholders Summit to extend invitations to the leadership of the groups and ensure our inclusion and participation in the Summit.”

“Also, in my personal capacity as the Leader of the Union of Niger Delta Contractors, I strongly believe that I equally deserve an invitation and inclusion in the Summit as a critical stakeholder.”

“We once again commend the NDDC MD, Chief Dr Samuel Ogbuku, for his unwavering commitment and assure him of our strong support because the idea for the summit is a welcome development and a step taken in the right direction” Snr Comrade Amb Emeni Ibe concluded.
