NGJE 2024 Expo Ends In Ibadan As NEITI’s Olasupo Calls For Business Ties & Transparency

The Nigeria Gemstones and Jewellery Expo, NGJE 2024, ended on Thursday at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, Oyo State, with participants renewing a call for business ties to foster growth and prosperity.

Hon. Taiwo A. Olasupo, NEITI Board Member South West, said that Nigeria’s economy’s significance of the gemstone and jewellery industry and emphasises the role of NEITI in promoting transparency and accountability.

During the 3-day conference, it was an opportunity to highlight the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, NEITI’s mission to ensure prudent management of revenues from the extractive sector, and its international affiliation with the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI).

Hon. Taiwo Olasupo reiterated that the aim of the organisation is to combat corruption through public disclosure and good governance.

Engr. Emmanuel Gbenga, the Zonal Mine Officer, South-West, ably represented the Minister of Solid Minerals, Dele Alake, and said that the government plans to deploy 2,300 security operatives to combat illegal mining activities across the federation.


He criticised the detrimental effects of illicit mining on the nation’s growth and urged miners to obtain the necessary licenses to avoid legal repercussions.

The Gemstones Miners and Marketers Association of Nigeria (GMMAN) presents the Nigeria Gemstones and Jewellery Expo, NGJE 2024, with the with the theme  “Nigeria’s Abundant Amazing Gems,” underscores the rich potential of the country’s gemstone and jewellery industry.

NGJE 2024, a three-day event, showcased innovative Nigerian jewellery designs and gemstone combinations, including a dynamic runway show, providing exposure for brands and products in the gemstone and jewellery sector.
