Nicon Town, Lekki To Host Pool Closed Tourney On 24 August

Nicon Town Pool; an affiliate of the Snooker and Pool Players Alliance is organizing the Nicon Town Pool Closed Tournament on Saturday, 24 August 2019 at the Nicon-Town Estate Recreational Center, Lekki, Lagos.

Nicon Town Pool Closed Tournament, a monthly Type ‘A’ event will be opened to the Top 4 ranked players on the Club Leaders ladder that currently has 45 players.

Type ‘A’ Tournaments is the grassroots platform which offers players the opportunity to be part of the new computer based players ranking structure for Snooker and Pool that is built on the point allotment system running of the new developed Cue Sports Management and Players Ranking System designed by FIJI Telecom System and Technology, a division of FIJI Ventures Limited.

President of the Snooker and Pool Players Alliance Joachim Idada explains why there is an innovation to the Snooker and Pool sports which are part of the cue sports family.

“We are introducing structure to the game in the country from the grassroots for it to be more attractive to the young and old, that is why we have designed a ranking system that will act as the springboard for any aspiring player to become a global brand in the next five years”.

“Nicon Town Pool Closed Tournament will set the ball rolling as we change the face of cue sports in the country through regular match ups which are the products of our players ranking system,” Idada said.

EXPRESS reports that players on the 10,000 points ranking system are categorized into 8 levels (0, I, II,… and VII) with Level 0 for 0 to 1000 points, Level I for 1000 to 1999 points, Level II for 2000 to 3499 points, Level III for 3500 to 4999 points, Level IV for 5000 to 7000 points, Level V for 7001 to 8499 points, Level VI for 8500 to 10,000 points and Level VII for 10000 above.
