Nigeria Holds Trials For U-18 World Youth Boxing Championship

A total of 30 boxers drawn from across the country have been invited by the Nigeria Boxing Federation for a two-day trial holding at the Brai Ayenote Boxing Gym, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, on the 12 and 13, October 2022.

The trial is aimed at selecting the boxers that would represent Nigeria at the forthcoming International Boxing Association (IBA) U-18  World Youth Boxing  Championship holding from 14-26 November 2022  at the Giudad Camilo Camp Arena, Spain.
A statement from the office of the Secretary General of the Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF), Dapo Akinyele, further explained that the 30 boxers (17 males and 13 females), were invited based on merit in accordance with their performance at the last National Youth Games.
Vice President of the Nigeria Boxing Federation Hon. Azania Omo-Agege Siena who is also the Vice President of the Africa Boxing Confederation said Nigeria’s participation in International Boxing Association (IBA) programmes especially at the youth level such as the forthcoming IBA  is very significant as it will help in developing boxing in the country hence the need for the trials to pick the boxers.
He added that those who  excel at the end of the two-day trial will be camped for adequate training ahead of the championship
