Nigeria’s First Lady Empowers Over 200 People In Anambra Under Renewed Hope Agric Support Scheme

The wife of the President of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has empowered over 200 persons in Anambra under her Renewed Hope Agricultural Support Programme.

 

The Renewed Hope Agricultural Support Program is a medium scale agro support initiative that targets individuals across different age groups who are passionate about earning a living through agro-businesses.

The beneficiaries had undergone a two-day hands-on training in different scheme areas, including feed processing, drip irrigation installation, vegetable farming, and piggery.

 

Each of the successful trainees were empowered with basic start-up tools that would enable them to successfully execute their chosen areas of study.

Presenting the empowerment items at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, on behalf of the president’s wife, the wife of Anambra State Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo noted that the beneficiaries were selected through a transparent, random process, that took note of individual criteria for the training and empowerment programmes.

She noted that the selection criteria ensured equal representation of different women groups, youth organizations, political associations, and school clubs.

She maintained that economic empowerment remains a core objective of the Renewed Hope Initiative, through the initiative, both women and youths across the six geopolitical zones have been empowered to support the economic reforms of the President Bola Tinubu administration.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike, while noting that the initiative will produce results in the efforts to transform agriculture in the state, stated that the beneficiaries will be monitored to ensure that they appropriately deploy the empowerment tools and knowledge garnered.

For the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo, what the state government is doing in the area of agriculture is to teach the people how to make a direct impact on their lives.

Some beneficiaries, Queen Anigbogu, Raphael Onwughalu, Chinyere Udeozor Chinyere and Hillary Obiajulu, said that the empowerment tools will greatly help their agric practices.

The governor’s wife distributed the empowerment items and gave some cash support to the beneficiaries, which formed the highpoint of the ceremony.
