Nile University Of Nigeria Holds Its 10th Convocation Ceremony

Over 800 students of the Nile University of Nigeria, a private multidisciplinary University located in Abuja, graduated on its 10th convocation ceremony on November 17, 2022, across five faculties— Arts & Social Sciences, Management Sciences, Engineering, Natural & Applied Sciences, and Law. The ceremony served a dual purpose as it also featured the investiture of the Shehu of Borno, HRH Abubakar Ibn Garbai EL-Kanemi CFR, as Nile University’s Chancellor. 

 

Speaking during the media briefing before the Convocation ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of Nile University of Nigeria, Prof. Dilli Dogo, said that the University started in 2009 with 34 undergraduates but presently has over 6000 undergraduate and postgraduate students, noting that there were adequate facilities and infrastructures to accommodate every student.

Providing some background to the University, he said Nile University is affiliated with   Honoris United Universities, the first and largest pan-African private higher education network with 15 institutions across 10 African countries. He further explained that this partnership positions Nile University to provide education that would produce impactful and productive graduates in society.

“73 graduates will bag first class, 161 will receive second class upper division, 182 will bag second class lower division, five third class,” he said

He further informed that the overall best graduating students were Obayomi Emmanuel Ayomide from the department of Accounting 5.0 C.G.P.A, Okon Precious Eteyen from Petroleum and Gas Engineering with 5.0 C.G.P.A, Taiwo Habiba Ayinke from the department of Mass Communication with 4.99 C.G.P.A, Egwakhide Mercy from the department Economics with 4.97 C.G.P.A.

Prof. Dogo disclosed that the University plans to open its faculty of Environmental Sciences for programmes in Building Engineering and Architecture, which are currently under the Engineering faculty, adding that it would also have an allied medical school to cater to select medical programmes.
