No fewer than nine inhabitants of Yeguda Community in Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State were severely injured and a sizeable number of properties destroyed on Saturday, November 30, 2019 when suspected thugs swooped on the community.

These thugs numbering about 25 are reported to be mobilized by a faction in a lingering family chieftaincy dispute.

According to a villager, who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity, the attacks on the community have become a constant experience, adding that it was an aftermath of continued refusal of the community leaders to put their “leader’’ who is a “cultist’’ on the coveted communal stool.

Our source gathered that the lingering rift claimed its first casualty sometime September last year when the family head named Alhaji Arole Adeshina died in what was believed to be outright assassination.

As at the time of filing this report, the situation is not getting any better as the group is not ready to sheathe their swords unless their will was done. It was alleged that the warring faction enjoys strong backings of some politicians who use them to silence perceived opposition.

Meanwhile, the fear of the unknown has forced the Baale-elect and his family to have allegedly fled the community.
