No To A Protest That Can Lead To Loss Of Properties & Lives

Everything is protesting against the hardship in Nigeria as we all know.
No drum needs to be beaten on the road to tell President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that things are not okay in Nigeria as he is aware and glaringly working round the clock to fix it.
Food items are scarce not only because the Dollar is rising or fuel is high in price but majorly because cattle rustlers and kidnappers have not allowed farmers in many areas to farm in the past years; my problem with Tinubu will be if that has not reduced.
Cassava takes 2 years to mature while yam, maize, and others will take a year at least but the farmers who are lucky to come home alive in the past four years and still got their farm secured are not that much.
The hardship becomes this unbearable because of the scarcity of food.
National grid falls, the crisis in the chain of fuel distribution, and the national economy that is battling for its life all complicated the issues.
Governments are called upon to alleviate the hardship and billions of Naira are being sent to many individuals’ account as bags of food are released and shared with the people.
The weakness of the palliative measure is that, how many people can the intervention cover? And how much can the packages given do in an individual’s life?
Palliative only comes as temporary relief as the masses remain in the same situation after the occasional rain.
The government still bears the blame but is the government not doing anything to solve the problem, that is another question?
If the people can see the government working around the clock to fix things; then, enduring is a duty.
Now, some people started printing placards and paying the media to organize a protest against the hardship.
Is it a protest against the cattle destroying our farms, or the merchants increasing the price of food items arbitrarily, or the saboteurs we are suspecting in many government institutions or everyone of them plus the government?
Or we are protesting against the government alone?
The school of thought sponsoring this crisis believes it is the fault of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and holds that blocking the road and stopping all other economic activities by the masses will be the driving force that will make him address the problem.
The questions are:
Yes, the government needs to do more but must we kill our youths to communicate that? Certainly, there are other ways to communicate that.
Another set of questions are:
Their interest mostly is to make money, make a name, or bring down a ruling government.
What usually happens is that politician known or unknown use protest to blackmail or bring down a government not dancing to their tune.
The funny thing will be people raising money to feed protesters that they did not go to feed at home before they drew them out to protest hunger.
*Who is fooling who?*
The sponsors of these activities know it will go violent and security personnel will be drafted to quench it which will eventually lead to the loss of life and property.
They are sure it will succeed in tarnishing the name of the government even if it fails to bring the military in.
The apex of the wickedness of these protest sponsors is the deliberate wasting of the lives of innocent youths to score a political goal
It is therefore a duty to protest against these life and property wasters who are only pursuing the political goal but not after the good of the nation.
It is the duty of those who value human lives and the dignity of human existence to come out against those calling for a national protest which they have no means of making peaceful
Tell these people to target another election or be bold enough to call the military to take power and face mutiny charges rather than setting the youths against the government.
If they can confront the government and risk mutiny charges; people will ordinarily take them as heroes and come out to protest for their release.
They must be ready to risk their life in prison too so it will prove to the masses they are calling on that they are truly interested in the future of Nigeria but not interested in shedding their blood.
Say no to a protest that may end up in wasting our youths’ lives.
*Do not join hands with those defeated in 2023 election and are planning the destroy the government because they cannot win through the fair process. Those whose primary interest is to truncate Nigeria’s democracy.

National President, Lekan Owolabi.
