Nollywood actor and Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency, Lagos State, Nze Metu Augustine Ejike, popularly known as Metusela, has declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat under his Party’s platform in order to offer quality service delivery to the people in 2023.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Metuselah stated this at the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Secretariat in Surulere, Lagos, where he went to pay a courtesy visit to the Igbo Apex leader and Ohanaeze President, Chief Solomon Aguene and to make his intention known to the Igbo stakeholders.

Ejike stated he had contested for the same position in 2014 with the present House of Representative Member, Hon. Ogene. But he won the primary and the party members worked for him to secure the seat.

He stated that he has supported the incumbent on both two occasions he won to represent Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency, which he is doing now for 8 years by 2023.

He said since he has supported him for those years, fairness and justice demand that he will not go for the third time and it was his turn to be supported by the party including the incumbent.

He noted that the incumbent has right to contest for the third time but he is looking at the unity of the Party in Amuwo Odofin and stated that without sounding immodesty he was a founding member of the PDP in Amuwo Odofin and was among those who had worked tirelessly for the progress of the PDP in the Constituency over the years.

Ejike believes that having worked tirelessly for Party over the years, there must be reward for loyalty and that he has paid his dues in the Party and as such should be rewarded for his loyalty by giving him the Party ticket.

He stated that he has made up his mind to contest and has even informed the incumbent, Hon. Ogene, that he is coming out and so he is prepared.

He also believes that since the incumbent has gone two times, justice and equity demand that he should allow other people to go this time. On how prepared he is for the contest, Chief Ejike stated that he was well prepared having worked tirelessly as a founding member of PDP and had consistently been part of the success story of PDP in Amuwo Odofin.

He noted that Lagos State is a peculiar state, where ethnic consideration is minimal stressing that he has remained in PDP because it allows members to ventilate their ambition without ethnic consideration but other Parties arrogate ambition to members and that is the clear distinction between PDP and other parties in Lagos State.

He explained that the first chairman of PDP in Amuwo Odofin was an Igbo man, one Okorocha and out of 15 promoters of PDP in 1998 in Amuwo Odofin, 13 were Igbo men and therefore, the issue of ethnic consideration does not exist in Lagos PDP.

He explained that his support base cut across ethnic groups and he has taken a step of faith and it is God that will conclude the rest.

Conclusively, Ejike stated that once he gets the ticket, with his good relationship with people and groups, he will win the election because his motive is service delivery to the people.
