Nxtion Family To Sponsor Football4girls In Lagos
As at the time women’s grassroots football is suffering a dearth of sponsorship in Nigeria with no corporate companies coming to its aid, one man stands to help women’s football and to raise the hopes of the girls, he is Tobi Adegboyega, a philanthropist per excellence, a Man of God and founder of Nxtion Family, a Pentecostal Church based in London.
Adegboyega is a lover of sports who came to rebrand the sports sector in Nigeria by sponsoring grassroots women’s football.
“Sponsorship is key to the development of sports, we all have a role to play to make Nigerian women football better than what it is now,” he said,
Adegboyega’s love for sports is awesome. Many people have compared him to MKO Abiola. Abiola during his days owned a football club, and also sponsored the Nigerian national teams while Adegboyega owns a team in the United Kingdom known as Pulse Academy.
This is not the first time Nxtion Family is sponsoring Asisat Oshoala football4girls event, last year, his partnership was awesome with cash prizes donated to teams, jerseys and gifts.
Asisat Oshoala needs no introduction, she is currently CAF Women Footballer of the Year and four-time Women African Footballer of the Year. She has played for Arsenal, Liverpool she also played in China and now Barcelona. She is the best top woman player to come out of Africa and the brain behind football4girls which she has been doing with her pet project, Asisat Oshoala Foundation.
The 2021 edition, which will be the sixth edition will hold at the new Onikan Stadium on Lagos Island. It will feature 16 teams in Nigeria. They will battle for cash prizes, while the Most Valuable Player (MVP) will head to Barcelona Academy.
This year’s event will also feature mentorship session for the girls, including a medical health day for the girl-child.
Football4girls has a success story, with five of their players currently playing in Europe, while those who don’t play football are in school studying sports-related courses.
