Oba Adewunmi Bolaji Escapes Death After Son Planned With Girlfriend To Assassinate Him

A top traditional ruler, Oba Adewunmi Bolaji, has escaped death in Lagos State after his 34-year old son, Damilola Ayodele Adewunmi, planned with his girlfriend, Calister Enyi, 35, to assassinate him but it failed.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Egbeda area of Lagos, where the suspects, Damilola and Caister, made the attempt.
The matter was reported to the Police and the suspects were arrested and charged charged for their alleged conduct.
The son was said to have armed himself with machete and his girlfriend, Calister, was with a knife, with which they planned to attack Oba Adewunmi Bolaji.
However, they ran out of luck after the victim managed to escape and the matter was reported to the Police at Shasha Division before they were arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over their alleged conduct.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found them culpable and consequently charged them before Ejigbo Magistrate Court for conspiracy and attempted murder, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
However, they pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, K.A. Ariyo, granted them bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.
The matter was adjourned till 20th February, 2024, while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, for mention.
