Obasa Games: Lagos Speaker Splashes N5 Million Naira On Future Stars After Winning Football Event

Speaker of Lagos State House Of Assembly, Hon Mudashiru Obasa has doled out sum of N5 million naira on Future Stars Football Club of Igando after they emerged as champions at football event of Obasa Games which held on Saturday at the Anwar Un Deen Islam Collage, Dopemu, Agege, Lagos.
The Obasa Games, which kicked off two months ago, is being sponsored by Speaker Lagos State House of Assembly, Honourable Mudashiru Obasa.
In the final played on Saturday evening,Future Stars defeated Goalgetters Football Academy of Surulere 6-5 on penalties after one goal apiece at the regulation time.
The epic final was witnessed by the cup donor, Hon Obasa, APC supporters, Chairman of Agege Local Council Boss, Ganiu Obasa, chairman of Orile Agege Local Council,Hon Idowu Akinola Abiodun and other football stakeholders.
Speaking with journalist, the Speaker said the Obasa Games was sponsored to encourage the youths in Agege and other parts of Lagos who are interested in sports.
He said the Obasa Games comprises of various sports which gives ample opportunities for the youths to go for any sport of their interest.
He explained that Obasa Games has come to stay and thanked the organising committee and other APC members in Agege for their support to make this year’s edition a memorable one.
Honourable Obasa used the occasion to announce additional money for the best fourth teams of the tournament.
Future Stars received a giant trophy with the sum of N5 million, the first runners up, Goalgetters FA received the sum of N3million, while third and fourth position went home with the sum of N1.5million and N1million respectively.
It was a pulsating tie as finalists entertained the mammoth crowd with their football artistry.Although the two teams lived up to expectations in their performance as the encounter ended in stalemate before it was decided by shootout.
Speaking after the match, Future Stars Coach, Oluwafemi Michael expressed gratitude to God for the success and thanked his players for their doggedness and dedication throughout the competition.
He also commended his players for giving their best saying that their final against Goalgetters FA was tough but thanked goodness that they came out victorious.
In his own comment, Goalgetters FA assistant coach,Lekan Eletu expressed disappointment with the outcome of the game saying that his boys were unlucky during the shootout.
“We were better than our opponents during the game.We controlled the game and missed some scoring chances unfortunately we lost during the shootout,”he said.
