The Executive members of the Igbo Speaking Community Lagos have been thrown into crisis following the alleged decision of the President General, Chief Sunday Udeh and his Deputy, Chucks Odimegwu, to sideline the financial secretary and treasurer in operation of the union’s bank account with their signatories.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that after the inauguration of the Executives, the duo of Sunday Udeh and Chucks Odimegwu continued to operate the bank account as signatories and sidelined the Financial Secretary and Treasurer of the community.

Some of the Executive members are not happy that it is only Chief Udeh and Odimegwu that knows how money comes in and are spent without the input of the financial secretary and treasurer. And since they were inaugurated, the financial secretary and treasurer cannot give account of the finances of the community because they know little of the coming in and going out of funds from the bank account.

The account in question was the bank account opened by Udeh and Odimegwu, which they used to crown Ezendigbo and Obi Ndigbo and other monies coming to the association during the crisis.

After the crisis was resolved and election conducted, Chief Udeh and Odimegwu emerged as President and Deputy president respectively. However, instead of regularizing the account by change of signatories to reflect that of the financial secretary and treasurer, they continued to operate the account with their signatures.

“President Udeh and his Deputy, Chucks Odimegwu are both Financial secretary and treasurer” a member of the Executive said.

That was part of the issue raised on Wednesday during their meeting and Chief Udeh was mandated to regularize the account to reflect the Financial secretary and treasurer.

It was not certain if Udeh and Odimegwu will comply with the decision of the Executive members who attended the meeting. A member of the Executives, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that it may be difficult and the duo may opt to open another account because of some withdrawals, which they had made and were unaccounted for.

It was not known if the BOT of the community has been notified about the ugly situation, though Chief Udeh had boasted that he is the President General  and Chief Executive of the Igbo Speaking Community and whatever he says must stand. That may have informed his decision to have sideline the financial secretary and treasurer.

As Chief Udeh may have to battle to resolve the matter, he is also said to be battling the fight between the Women leader and Deputy women leader.

When P.M.EXPRESS contacted the General Secretary of the Igbo Speaking community, Chief Joshua Kalu, he confirmed the issue of the bank account and explained that the matter was discussed at their meeting.

Kalu said the change will be effected very soon as discussed in their meeting to accommodate the financial secretary and treasurer.

He explained that the bank account in question was opened during the crisis that rocked the community and had Udeh and Odimegwu as signatories.
