Odunmbaku Gold Cup: Prince Gbadamosi Allegedly Accused Of Diverting Third Place Winner Prize Money For His Personal Use

Chairman of Samjason Football Club, Samuel Uchenna Eke has called on the organisers of the just concluded second edition of Odunmbaku Gold Cup to pay his team’s prize money for their third place position.

The just concluded football competition tagged Odunmbaku Gold Cup’ was sponsored by a chieftain of All Progressive Congress (APC), Cardinal James Odunmbaku.

Recently the champions of the tournament, Adosag FC of Ikorodu received the sum of N1 million as prize money through the team head coach bank account, while the first runners up, King Best FC coach also received the sum of N650,000 for the second position.

But the argument started when the match coordinator, Prince Sulaiman Gbadamosi refused to pay the third position, Samjason FC and told the sponsor to pay the fourth position, Sizoko FC their prize money.

Gbadamosi alleged that Samjason failed to forward their bank account to the sponsor through him which made him stop their payment.

Eke said what really annoyed him was that Prince Gbadamosi secretly paid the fourth position, Sizoko FC the sum of N300,000 without paying his team which he described as a big fraud being perpetuated by Prince Gbadamosi.

In a letter copied the organisers and other relevant authorities and forwarded to our correspondent, Eke stated that Prince Gbadamosi had dented the image of the tournament with his dubious and fraudulent character which he must be exposed through the public and the media channels.

He said that Prince Gbadamosi must have perpetuated this after allegedly pushed for them to.part with a certain percentage of the winning bonus paid by Cardinal Odunmbaku.

Eke further said he is ready to take this matter to any level and ensure that Prince Gbadamosi would be invited for questioning by the sponsor and be compelled to pay the club’s due entitlements.

“We consider this failure to pay our prize money as a breach of the tournament’s terms and an affront to the integrity of the competition. We kindly requested that this matter be resolved within 48 hours by either remitting the outstanding payment or providing a valid explanation for the delay.

“Should you fail to respond or resolve this matter within the stipulated time, we will be compelled to pursue this matter legally.This will include escalating the matter to relevant authorities and exposing the organisers fraudulent and dubious practices through public and media channels,” the letter reads.
