Why Ogun Security Trust Fund Failed Under Amosun –Dapo Abiodun
Posted on September 20, 2019
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has blamed the immediate past administration of Senator Ibikunle Amosun for the failure of the State Security Trust Fund due to governance issues.
Abiodun, who spoke during the “Thank you meeting” with members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State to appreciate them for their support, especially during the election petition tribunal, attributed the failure to mismanagement on the part of the last administration.
The event was held at the Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta.
The governor said he had sent a bill for an amendment of the law establishing the Trust Fund to avoid a repeat of what happened to the fund under the last administration. He said: “We amended the law that set up our security trust fund to have appropriate governance. We realised that the previous security trust fund failed and we thought we needed to look at that.
“We are determined to make this state safe for ourselves, citizens, visitors, residents and investors. We will not tolerate lawlessness under any guise. We will not tolerate indiscipline and we will not tolerate cultism.”
The governor, who vowed not to interfere in how the fund is being managed, further said: “In the mean time, we have also appointed auditors because it is not a case of me the governor calling on the members of the trust fund to go and buy this and go and buy that.
“The governance is instituted in it so that they are independent, autonomous and take decisions accordingly.
