The Forum of Former Councillors of Ogun State (2015-2019),Ogun West Chapter today Wednesday 20th April, 2022, held an interactive session with Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola at Ilaro, Ogun State.

The session was attended by almost 50 former Councillors, who served in the 15 Local Government/Local Council Development Areas Legislative Houses of Ogun West Senatorial District between 2015 and 2019.

During the interactive session, the Sociopolitical and infrastructural development of Ogun West Senatorial District since the creation of Ogun State in 1976, were extensively discussed. It was concluded that though Ogun West still lags behind the other districts in the state, the inclusive approach of the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, is creating a new window of hope and putting Ogun West better in the developmental agenda of Ogun State.

Senator Solomon Adeola seized the opportunity of the session to talk about his aspiration to represent Ogun West in the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from June 2023 and his vision for Ogun West as Senator representing the district.

Members of the Forum of Former Councillors present submitted that they have been following closely the performance of Senator Adeola as Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and gave a verdict of excellent performance in the areas of bills/motions sponsorship, oversight duty and facilitation of development projects and empowerment to the Senatorial District he currently represents.

Members also submitted that though Senator Adeola is not currently representing Ogun West, his positive impacts are already being felt in Ogun West.

At the end of the interactive session, the Forum of Former Councillors of Ogun West unanimously resolved that:

1. As members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, the interest of the party must always be put above personal and group interests in order to ensure that the party emerged victorious at the 2023 general elections.

2. They pledge their support for His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR, to return for the second term as Governor of Ogun State, while urging him to fast-track all ongoing projects in Ogun West and give more attention to the infrastructural needs of the district.

3. Considering the rich experience, ranking status, wide political network and excellent performance of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, his aspiration to represent Ogun West in the Senate from June 2023 is fully supported.

Members of the forum collectively and individually will work for the emergence of Prince Dapo Abiodun and Senator Adeola as gubernatorial and Ogun West Senatorial candidates of the APC respectively and also work for their victory at the general election of February/March, 2023.

The above was signed on behalf of the Forum of Former Councillors by  Hon Makinde Tunde, Hon Bashir Biodun, Hon Adanaja Olufemi, Hon Ogundeji Opeyemi, Hon Mrs. M. O. Adebayo and Hon Mrs. Fagbemi K.
