Ohanaeze: Chief Sunday Ossai Begs Chief Solomon Aguene Over Court Judgment

KINGSLEY EBERE

The embattled self acclaimed leader of Ohanaeze, Chief Sunday Ossai, may have realized his mistake and pleaded with the authentic President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos chapter, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, to withdraw the matter from the Police at FCID Headquarters Annex, Alagbon, to make peace.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that while the embattled Chief Ossai is looking for a way to make peace with Chief Aguene,  his self acclaimed Secretary, Mr. Robert Obasi, is busy making press releases claiming that Chief Ossai was duly elected probably to send him to prison over their proactrated disagreement in the past.

Chief Ossai was said to have told Aguene that he was actually misled by ignoring the valid Court judgment by claiming to be duly elected President of Ohanaeze where there is subsisting Court judgment that declared Aguene as Authentic President by the Lagos State High Court.

This was disclosed by Chief Aguene, who said that Chief Ossai has contacted and asked him to withdraw the matter from Police so that they will make peace as brothers.

Chief Sunday Ossai may have realized that declaring himself as duly elected President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State contrary to the subsisting Court judgment which amounts to Contempt and impersonation that could land him in more trouble and possible imprisonment.

However, Chief Aguene said he told him that he had earlier warned and filed Form 48 and 49 before the Court for committal and they begged him not to continue with the matter.

Aguene said that he told Chief Ossai that the matter was beyond him because it is being handled by Chairmen of Ohanaeze Ndigbo across the LCDAs and directed him to meet with them.

In Nigeria, disobeying a subsisting court judgment can have serious consequences, including: Civil contempt- Disobeying a court judgment can be considered civil contempt, which can result in fines, imprisonment, or both. Also it can be a Criminal contempt which can result in more severe penalties, including imprisonment.

Chief Sunday Ossai may have chosen the part of peace to beg Chief Aguene for peace to reign between them despite the fact that some of his supporters are asking him to disregard the Court judgment and declare himself duly elected president of Ohanaeze.

Another factor that may have convinced Chief Ossai to beg Chief Aguene was the excellent presentation by Chief (Mrs.) Vivian Obi to the Deputy Commissioner of Police  FCID,  DCP Ime Udofia of the Homicide Section at FCIID Alagbo, which were said to be incontrovertible coupled with the certified copy of the Court judgment.

Mrs. Obi was said to have demolished the arguments put up by Eze Chris Offia, Chief Ossai, Mr. Robert Obasi and Chief Everest Ozonweke and one Prince Ubochi, which made Eze Offia to quickly turn around and tell DCP Ime Udofia that he wants peace in the association.

What has remained an albatross for Chief Ossai and his group is that they were unable to respond over the valid Court judgment that declared Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene as the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State, which has actually landed them in trouble for holding illegal Ohanaeze meeting on 1st March, 2025, in a hotel in Lagos State.
