Ojodu LCDA Celebrates Isese Day, Reaffirms Commitment To Yoruba Cultural Heritage

The Ojodu Local Council Development Area, led by Hon. Segun Odunmbaku, has joined Yoruba sons and daughters across Lagos State and beyond to celebrate Isese Day 2026 with a colourful display of culture, tradition and indigenous heritage.
The celebration brought together traditional rulers, Baales, cultural custodians, traditional worshippers and other stakeholders to honour Yoruba ancestral heritage and reaffirm the importance of preserving values, customs and traditions passed down through generations.

The event was hosted by the Oba of Aguda, Oba Hakeem Agbaosi, alongside Baales and other traditional stakeholders within the LCDA.
Also in attendance were the Vice Chairman, Alhaja Kafayat Funmilayo Layeni; Head of Unit, Tourism, Mrs. Adeeso-Oyedeji Adefunke; Supervisor for Tourism, Hon. Taiwo Tifashe; and Special Adviser on Chieftaincy, Hon. Rasheed Aro.

The gatherings across Ojodu LCDA featured traditional expressions of Yoruba culture, including music, drumming, prayers, cultural displays and other activities that showcased the richness and vibrancy of the people’s indigenous heritage.
Speaking on the significance of the celebration, the Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Hon. Segun Odunmbaku, said Isese Day serves as an important reminder of the people’s roots and the collective responsibility to preserve cultural identity for future generations.

He reaffirmed the council’s commitment to promoting and protecting Yoruba traditions as part of grassroots development in Ojodu LCDA.
