Oju Eko Initiative Empowers Community Women At “December To Remember” Outreach

Posted on January 8, 2026
The Empowering Community Women 0.2 programme was successfully held on December 27, 2025, as part of the “December To Remember” initiative organised by the Oju Eko Community Empowerment Initiative. The event brought together women from across the community in a warm, supportive atmosphere designed to uplift, inspire and address their immediate social and economic needs.
The outreach focused on promoting women’s wellbeing, dignity and self-reliance through a range of carefully curated activities. Participants benefited from free medical check-ups, providing access to basic health screenings and professional advice that many would otherwise struggle to obtain. In addition, a clothes shopping spree and distribution of foodstuffs helped ease the economic pressures faced by families during the festive period.
Beyond material support, the programme placed strong emphasis on personal development and motivation. Inspirational talks encouraged women to believe in their potential, embrace resilience and explore pathways to sustainable livelihoods. These sessions were complemented by fun and engaging activities, creating a relaxed environment that fostered connection, laughter and a sense of belonging.
According to the organisers, the event marked a significant step in advancing women’s empowerment through social development, improved health outcomes, enhanced wellbeing and opportunities for sustainable economic growth. The initiative reaffirmed Oju Eko’s commitment to placing women at the centre of community transformation.
The sessions were intentionally designed to be highly interactive and participatory, enabling women to actively share experiences, exchange ideas and contribute their perspectives. This inclusive approach not only strengthened community bonds but also ensured that the voices of the women remained central to the empowerment process.
Overall, Empowering Community Women 0.2 stood as a powerful reminder of the impact grassroots initiatives can have in creating meaningful change—leaving participants not only supported, but inspired and hopeful for the future.
