Oldest Igbo Man Living In Lagos, Eze Cyril Anomneze Passes On At 104

The oldest Igbo man living in Lagos, His Royal Highness, Eze Cyril Anomneze, has passed on at the age of 104 years at his home in Surulere area of the State. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the patriarch died three days ago at his home after a brief illness associated with old age.
The corpse has been taken to his home town in Imo State and deposited at mortuary in preparation for his burial yet to be announced by his family.
Pa Cyril Anomneze came to Lagos around 1930 and was instrumental to the movement of a lot of Igbo to Lagos. He was then a footballer playing for ZAC Football Club,Yaba, Lagos in the 30s and his popularity inspired a lot of Igbo to begin to see Lagos as a land of opportunity.
He was described as a man of great intelligence and integrity, who had motivational abilities and as a philanthropist who contributed immensely to the development of lives and communities around him.
The contributions Pa Anomneze made in the progress and development of Igbo people in Lagos cannot be overemphasized and there is hardly any Igbo man who came to Lagos from the 40s that does not have one good story or the other to tell about him.
Pa Eze Cyril Anomneze will be remembered as a man of peace, very accommodating and always ready to go out of his way to help others.
He was a successful businessman, blessed with longevity which was a product of obedience, kindness and integrity.
His Royal Highness, Eze Cyril Anomneze was the father of all Igbo in Lagos and his constant admonition was for everybody to live in peace and eschew bitterness.
He was a foremost distributor with Guinness Nigeria, Nigerian Breweries and Portland West Africa at a very young age and God blessed him with wealth and intelligence, which he used for the service of mankind.
When P.M.EXPRESS correspondent visited his home in Surulere,  none of the family members was around to speak to the reporter but the residents confirmed his death.
“Yes, Papa has passed on and has been taken to his home town in preparation for his burial. He was a good man, who lived in peace with people around him” one of the residents stated.
