Posted on February 11, 2025

The Chairman of the Nigeria Diaspora Voting Council (NDVC) and Director of the Diaspora Directorate of the defunct Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Prince Ade Omole, has warmly welcomed Senator Chinedu Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North senatorial district, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

During a courtesy visit, Prince Omole, accompanied by Dr Alistair Soyode, Founder of the first Black TV Channel in Europe, BEN TV, commended the Senator for taking the bold step of joining the APC from the sinking opposition party, PDP. He noted that Senator Nwoko’s decision reflects a commitment to progressive governance and national development.
Omole expressed confidence in the Senator’s contributions to nation-building, particularly in strengthening the party’s influence in his state and advancing policies that benefit Nigerians at home and abroad.

Prince Omole specifically praised Senator Nwoko’s efforts to enhance the Diaspora’s participation in national politics. He highlighted the Senator’s sponsorship of key ongoing Diaspora Bills, which aim to provide greater engagement opportunities for Nigerians abroad in governance and policy-making.

He expressed enthusiasm about the potential for collaboration on these initiatives and reaffirmed his dedication to working closely with the Senator to ensure that Diaspora voices are effectively represented.

Given Omole’s leadership in the NDVC, he emphasised the significance of strengthening the push for Diaspora Voting, an area where Senator Nwoko has shown great interest and support.

Dr. Alistair Soyode, a long-time advocate for Diaspora Voting, also shared valuable insights during the meeting, suggesting strategies to advance the advocacy and ensure its success. He emphasised the need for a unified approach to mobilising Nigerians in the Diaspora towards full political participation.

Both Omole and Soyode expressed optimism that, with Senator Nwoko’s influence and legislative backing, the APC-led government will make tangible progress in institutionalising Diaspora Voting. The meeting concluded on a note of mutual commitment to building on the synergy for greater inclusion of Nigerians in the Diaspora in the country’s political and economic landscape.
