In a statement on Sunday 21st April, 2024, signed by Dr. Tunji Balogun, the Director-General, the group said,
“Omoluabi Coalition Group (OCG), hereby issue this statement to express our strong rejection of the recently concluded Ondo State Primary Elections held on Saturday, April 20, 2024”.
“After careful review and consideration of the electoral process and its outcomes, we have identified numerous irregularities and discrepancies that have compromised the integrity and fairness of the election. These irregularities include but are not limited to:
1. Lack of transparency in the voting process
2. Allegations of voter suppression and disenfranchisement
3. Reports of intimidation and coercion of voters
4. Inconsistencies in the election results
5. Breach of established electoral guidelines and procedures.”
“Given the gravity of these issues and their potential impact on the democratic process, we cannot in good conscience accept the results of the primary elections as a true reflection of the will of the people.”
“We call for an immediate and thorough investigation into the conduct of the Ondo State Primary Elections, with a view to rectifying the identified irregularities and ensuring that future electoral processes adhere to the principles of fairness, transparency, and accountability.”
“We remain committed to upholding the democratic values and principles that underpin our society and will continue to advocate for free, fair, and credible elections in Ondo State and beyond.”
