The Rivers State Police Command has arrested one Kingsley Chinamezu, popularly known as Power Sharp, for the alleged brutal killing of his 44-year-old girlfriend, Miss Confidence Konenari Sunny, in Umuebule Community, Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Chinamezu, a 23-year-old native of Ogbo Hill, Abia State, was apprehended after allegedly macheting the victim to death before fleeing to Egbeta village in Edo State, where he continued issuing threats to the victim’s family.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, revealed that operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU), leveraging technical intelligence, tracked down and arrested the suspect on August 15, 2025.

“Upon interrogation, the suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime, providing chilling details of the events leading to the murder. Evidence is being collected while investigations continue to determine his possible involvement in other crimes. He will be prosecuted upon completion of the investigation,” the PPRO said.

The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, commended the swift response of the operatives, stressing that Rivers State would never serve as a safe haven for criminal elements. He further warned perpetrators of heinous crimes to desist, as the law will always catch up with them.

Meanwhile, the Orashi National Congress (ONC), under the leadership of Amb. Emeni Ibe, has commended the Rivers State Police Command for its professionalism, speed, and commitment in bringing the suspect to justice.

Amb. Ibe noted that the arrest has not only restored public confidence in the Police but has also sent a strong signal to criminals that Rivers State communities remain under vigilant security watch. He assured that the ONC would continue to support security agencies in their efforts to rid the state of crime and protect innocent lives.

The ONC further called on residents to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and supportive of security operatives by reporting suspicious movements and individuals in their communities.
