ONC Honours Sir Alwell Chinedum Okereuku With Award For Excellence

Notable Niger Delta socio-cultural group, the Orashi National Congress, ONC, has grandly honoured the Permanent Secretary of Rivers State Ministry of Environment, Sir Alwell Chinedum Okereuku, with an Award for Excellence.

Sir Okereuku was bestowed the honour during a courtesy by the Congress to his office on Monday 8th December, 2025.

Speaking during visit, the President General of the ONC, Amb Comrade Emeni Ibe said, “It is with great joy and profound gratitude that I, Amb Emeni Ibe, by the special grace of God Almighty lead this great delegation for a courtesy visit to you Sir. This is in appreciation of your faithful discharge of duties as Permanent Secretary of Rivers State Ministry Of Environment. Your great disposition promoted work ethics, healthy-cohesion, and peaceful coexistence among the members of staff in the Ministry of Environment, especially by providing the enabling environment for even development for all communities in the State”.

“We are here to commend you for the good work you have been doing as Permanent Secretary, Rivers State Ministry of Environment, and to honour you, Sir Alwell Chinedum Okereuku KSC, JP, with a Certificate of Excellence as the Best Permanent Secretary in our beloved Rivers State. It may interest you to note that this award follows a comprehensive assessment of your performance, administration efficiency, and distinguished contributions to environmental governance in the state. This recognition is the outcome of a critical evaluation conducted by an independent assessment committee within the Congress. The Committee reviewed the achievements of individuals who have served in different ministries and concluded that your impact stands out remarkably. This is our own way of celebrating excellence and encourage a culture of accountability and dedication in public service. We applaud your track record and exemplary leadership which has significantly contributed to the advancement of the Ministry. Let me therefore, present to you the certificate to the Glory of God.”

We carry out the following activities: public enlightenment campaign for the returns of arms illegally possessed and sensitization campaign on flood, Orashi peace walk (aka) Waka for peace, talk shop for military/civilian cordial interface, anti-pipeline vandalization campaign, anti-bunkering initiative, anti-kidnapping campaign, operation walk with security agencies and operation give honour to traditional rulers, just to mention but few.”

In his remarks, the visibly elated Sir Alwell Okereuku, who received the award in the presence of directors in the Ministry of Environment, thanked the ONC for the honour.
Sir Okereuku said the award will spur him to put in more service to the best of his ability. He dedicated the award to the staff and directors iin the Ministry.
