Ooni Hosts Asake & Mother, Commends Singer For Promoting Yoruba Culture Globally

The Permanent Chairman of the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council (SNTRC), Arole Oodua Olofin Adimula and the Natural Head of the Odùduwà race worldwide, the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, Ojaja II, on Monday hosted renowned Nigerian music star, Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, and his mother at the historic Ile Oodua in Ile-Ife, Osun State, commending the artiste for promoting Yoruba culture on the global stage.
The revered monarch, who is also the Permanent Co-Chairman of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN) received the singer in a colourful ceremony marked by rich cultural displays.
Asake arrived at the Ooni’s Palace in the company of popular media personality Idowu Adeyemi (Yhemolee), students of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, as well as fans and supporters.
They were welcomed with traditional songs, rhythmic drumming, prayers, and other colourful cultural performances that reflected the deep heritage of the Yoruba people.
Speaking during the visit, Asake expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Ooni for the warm royal reception and fatherly blessings, describing the moment as deeply humbling and unforgettable.
In a show of reverence and joy, the award-winning artiste broke into songs of praise, extolling the virtues and ancestral greatness of the Ooni and the revered throne of Odùduwà.
Responding, the Ooni expressed delight at hosting the music star and praised him for consistently projecting Yoruba culture through his music and public identity.
“I am truly happy that Asake has come back home. He is a son of the soil who continues to proudly promote Yoruba culture to the world, and this brings me great joy,” the Ooni said.
The Ooni prayed for continued divine guidance and lasting success for the artiste, invoking Olódùmarè to guide his steps and crown his efforts with greater achievements.
He also paid glowing tribute to Asake’s mother, commending her unwavering support, sacrifices, and prayers throughout her son’s journey.
“She is indeed the true producer of Asake, a woman whose dedication and steadfast support have shaped the man we celebrate today,” the Ooni noted.
The Ooni further applauded Asake for remembering his roots, describing it as a virtue worthy of honour, and extended appreciation to the artiste’s supporters and well-wishers.
The atmosphere was filled with emotion as Asake’s mother beamed with joy while the Ooni presented her with special royal gifts in recognition of her sacrifices.
In a symbolic gesture underscoring identity and cultural heritage, the Ooni also presented Asake with a sacred Ife artwork, representing history, pride, and the enduring bond between the global music star and his ancestral roots.
