Orion Win Babajide Sanwolu Lagos Soccer Challenge

Orion Football Club of Ikorodu have emerged as champions of the just concluded Babjide Sanwo- Olu Lagos Community Soccer Challenge.

 The final which was played on Wednesday At Campos Sports Centre saw Orion defeating their counterparts from Ajegunle, Clever Boys 5-4 on penalty shootout after one goal apiece at the regulation time.

 In the semi final, Orion defeated Unlimited FC of Lagos 3-2 on penalties while Clever Boys defeated Rike FC 2-0 to book a place in the final.

 The state finals featured two finalists from each football division in Lagos. AS Orion who emerged champions in Ikorodu division became the overall champions after they  defeated a highly rated Clever Boys who failed to lived up to expectations against their opponents  in the final watched by the Director BOS Independent Campaign Group Sports Directorate, Prince Gafaar Bolowotan and other invited guests.

 Bolowotan in a chat with journalists said the competition is in line with the programmes lined up ahead of Governorship election scheduled for Saturday.

 He said the APC candidate, Sanwo- Olu is committed to youths and sports development and he is ready to take the round leather game to the next level if he is elected as the Governor of Lagos State.

“The APC governorship candidate, Babajide Sanwo- Olu is a friend of the game and he is happy to support youths and sports development in the state. If we can vote for him or the youth massively vote for him, definitely sports in Lagos would go to the next level. On the two teams, both teams played very well but the better side won,” he said.

Assistant Director Babajide Olusola Sanwo olu Independent Campaign Group and Coordinator BOS Cup 2019, Tayo Aderinola expressed gratitude to God for the success of the tournament. He said the competition has discovered new talents that can represent the state in the future national competitions.
