In a bid to address the perennial flooding issues in the Umuna axis of Orlu Urban, the Imo State Government has commenced the opening of water and flood channels that had been clogged with debris. This move is part of the ongoing Orlu Urban Renewal project, which aims to transform the area and improve the lives of residents.
The Governor Uzodimma-led administration has prioritized the urban renewal of Orlu, recognizing the importance of this commercial hub to the state’s economy. To tackle the flooding challenges, the government has deployed Craneburg Construction Company to handle the project.
The clearance of water channels is a critical aspect of the project, as it will help to ensure that rainwater and floodwaters are properly directed away from roads, homes, and business premises. This will not only prevent flooding but also reduce the risk of erosion and damage to infrastructure.
Residents of Umuna axis have expressed relief and gratitude as the project gets underway, acknowledging the positive impact it will have on their lives and businesses.
The Imo State Government’s commitment to urban renewal and infrastructure development is a welcome gesture, and the people of Orlu look forward to enjoying a more comfortable environment.
