Osinbajo’s Future Perspectives Holds Annual Interactive Dialogue On Building Sustainable Africa
Future Perspectives, co-founded by the immediate past Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, GCON, will be hosting its annual interactive dialogue this week, in collaboration with Africa Fintech Foundry.
Themed “Building a Sustainable Africa,” the event will hold on the 29th of November, 2024, bringing together young people actively involved in the climate action space.
It would be recalled that the maiden edition of the dialogue took place on the 22nd of November 2023, in partnership with UNESCO, with 50 young education stakeholders from across Nigeria who took part in the “Innovation to Transform Education Training Programme”, ITET, and also participated in a Fireside Chat with Prof. Osinbajo.
The immediate past Vice President has been vocal about a just energy transition for Africa, and believes that in order for Nigeria to attain net-zero by 2060, economic growth shouldn’t be sacrificed to realize effective climate action.
He is of the opinion that due to Africa’s abundance of high-quality, untapped renewable energy potential, the young, entrepreneurial workforce, and relevant natural assets and resources, the continent has all the key ingredients to be the major climate action powerhouse.
In another development, Future Perspectives is collaborating with Archer, an Artificial Intelligence-powered, teacher-controlled mathematics tutor, to elevate students’ learning at all levels.
The introduction of this private math AI tutor will help close the learning poverty gap in Africa which remains one of the major barriers to providing quality education.
Prof. Osinbajo’s organisation is committed to transforming and improving STEM education, particularly among girls in Africa.
With partners such as Archer, Future Perspectives is using cutting-edge tools in delivering quality math education to students, and giving them the flexibility to learn and understand the subject in a structured environment in and outside of the classroom.
The first phase of the pilot program has over 200 secondary school children across Nigeria and Rwanda, and in its second phase, Archer will incorporate WAEC syllabus into the platform to support more secondary school children in Nigeria.
According to the Co-founder of Archer, Simon Nicholas, who expressed delight working with Future Perspectives, “our team at Archer is incredibly humbled and thrilled to be working with Future Perspectives to help teachers provide outstanding math education to students across Africa. It’s been our mission from the beginning to bring rigorous, teacher-designed curriculum blended with the latest technology to math learners all over the world. With the energy and support of our partner, Future Perspectives, we are doing just that.”
