‘Ottification’ Of Our Society

Posted on March 6, 2024
Nothing done in darkness is ever done well. A society requires the masterpiece of light for her citizens to see and act clearly for creative contributions on the pathways of progress. No society can be industrialized without light. It is noted in one of the ancient books that the creator of the Universe needed light before He could create anything. Yet, Nigerian governments are promising to perform wonders in the midst of darkness, driving at a harum-scarum speed in the darkest of the night without a headlamp.
Adequate electric light is not an option in the arena of industrialization and that of sustainable developments. In the struggle of nation building, nothing can be right without light.
The incumbent Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, has proven beyond reasonable doubt that leadership failures are responsible for electricity power failures in Nigeria. Otti has become a game-changer by ensuring constant electricity power supply among other mind blowing projects in his state. His giant strides in the area of developments will surely lead to the ‘OTTIFICATION’ (revivification) of other regions, as the citizens of other regions shall rise to move against those who jeopardize public health for their individual acquisitions of unholy wealth.
The greatest obstacle to the realization of an opulent economy in Nigeria is the epileptic state of electricity power supply, crippled by mega rate of corruption surrounding the managements and the laisez-fair posture of the government. Old-world and short-lived equipments that cannot withstand the energy demand of the public are being used by electricity distribution companies, coupled with poor maintenance culture and deliberate outages to ensure break down of power supply for selfish reasons.
In their struggle to sabotage power supply, some disruptive elements are enforced, such as the use of ion channels instead of fiber cross arms. If an animal, especially a bird, while standing on an ion channel, touches a power line with its feathers, it will electrocute the bird and trip off the feeder supplying the individual line. And if peradventure the bird’s carcass remains on the line while its leg is still on the ion channel, it will continue to trip off the feeder as power station operators struggle to restore light. Until the bird is traced and removed, the feeder will continue to trip off.
If the ion channels can be changed to fibre cross arms, the inadvertently devastating effects of birds or other animals on a power line will be rendered impotent. It is alleged that the ion channels are deliberately used in favour of generator importers and others, who profit from power failures at the detriment of the public. It is rumoured that some top players in the generator industry woo the system in charge of electricity power generation, and possibly, the government that be, to obligate the use of ion channels for transformer installations instead of fibre cross arms in order to interrupt free flow of power supply.
I pray the government to deal with the illicit operations that are inimical to constant electric power supply in order to protect masses interests and encourage industrialization, which in turn, shall boost employment opportunities as it encourages local and foreign investors, which shall linger on also to reduce the crime rate in Nigeria.
Securing a victory in the electricity sector, which remains indispensable to the actualization of a healthy society, will help the government to achieve many goals in every sectors and make Nigeria gain a solid foundation for global competition.
It is high time we brought back the glory of good deeds, which has been suffocated with high gluttony for cash, as we embrace and enforce ‘OTTIFICATION’ in our leadership settings in Nigeria, and in extension, in Africa.
Please jot this: Honesty remains the golden and the sole route to the city of wellness.
