Owo-Made U-17 Talent Discovery Football Tournament Final Holds Friday
The final of Owo-Made U-17 Talent Discovery Football Tournament holds on Friday at the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Sports Arena, Owo in Ondo State, southwest Nigeria
.
The tournament is packaged by United Kingdom-based Optimum Football Consultancy in conjunction with Owo Local Government Football Council.
The competition which kicked off on 26 April with the final scheduled for Friday, 7 May is being organised to discover budding talent in Owo and its environs.
Powered by Optimum Football Academy in the UK, the tournament is a prelude to the establishment of Optimum Football Academy in Nigeria.
P.M. EXPRESS reports that Optimum Football Academy is the first private football academy in Owo local government area of Ondo state and it will provide academic football courses for aspiring footballers at aged 17.
According to the General Manager, Optimum Football Consultancy and Academy, Owo, Comrade Prince Adekunle Ademola Olagbegi, the Friday’s final will be exciting and memorable with the caliber of dignitaries invited to grace the event.
The Royal Father of the Day is His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, the Olowo of Owo Kingdom, while the Chairperson of the Day is Princess, Olufunmilayo Ademulegun Brown, Commissioner 1, SPEB, Akure.
Chairman of the event is Hon (Barr.) Bode Ayorinde, Pro Chancellor, Achiever University, Owo, while the Special Guest of Honour is Chief Samuel Adegbegi, the Executive Chairman, Owo Local Government.
Guests of Honour include, Bar. Dotun Owonikin, former Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Ondo State, Hon. Ogunmolasuyi Oluwole, a former member of Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Olatunbosun Oladimeji, former Special Adviser on Documentation to the Governor of Ondo State and Coach Abiodun Henry, Director, Football Coaches Association of African Union.
Speaking on the targets and goals of Optimum Football Academy , Prince Olagbegi said the Football Academy will provide the best of facilities, coaching and games programme to create a perfect environment for players to develop and reach their full potentials.
He said the academy will use its vast “network of international football clubs and football management organisations around the world, to help young players with opportunities to showcase their talents to football coaches and agents across Europe and we are committed to the growth of football in Nigeria and Africa.”
