Oyetola: My Govt Will Focus On Agriculture, Tourism, People’s Welfare

The Governor-elect of the State of Osun, Gboyega Oyetola has said that his government will focus on agricultural development, tourism and welfare of the people of the state.
He also noted that despite differences among the people of the state leading to his victory at the just concluded governorship election, he would ensure that his administration is fair to all.
Oyetola the candidate of the All Progressives Congress was declared the winner of the 2018 Osun governorship election. He was returned as governor-elect on Thursday at the end of a supplementary election which was held in seven polling units across four local governments. The APC candidate won six of the seven units. At the end of the tally of votes, the APC candidate scored a total of 255,505 votes while the PDP candidate scored a total of 255,023 votes.
In his first public interview after the release of the result early on Friday, Oyetola accepted that the people of Osun State have been divided along party lines before and during the election, adding that with the election won by the APC, his new government would not be one sided but carry along all stakeholders in Osun State politics.
“I won’t be the Governor of APC alone; I will be a governor for all. My administration would accommodate everybody irrespective of our differences,” Oyetola said in an interview on TVC early on Friday.
The Governor-elect revealed that his victory signified a new dawn in the state.
“I’m elated with the overwhelming support I received from the people and this has put a burden on me that I should not disappoint them. I want to assure that there will be continuity to further develop Osun State in the areas of infrastructure, education, welfare of the people and security. I’m seriously committed to take the state to the next level and all stakeholders will be involved to improve the state forward.
On the economy, the former Chief of Staff to the outgoing Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola in the last eight years said: “My administration will focus on agriculture and its value chain, see to the establishment of processing companies and agro-allied industry. We all know that the state has a lot of potentials in tourism. The plan is to involve private partnership to achieve all this. We must attract investors to Osun. One of the things we will do is to organise an Economic Summit as soon as I assume office. We must attract investors to this state. The plan is also to create an industrial park. It is only through economy that we can empower our people and we must not do this through unnecessary increase in tax. The cardinal points of my government will be empowerment of the people and security. Women will also play major role in the administration.”
