A 51-year old cleric, Pastor Nduka Anyanwu, will spend his entire life in prison custody following the judgment of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to double life imprisonment for defiling and impregnating two biological sisters inside the church during prayer session.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that it was the judgment of Justice Abiola Soladoye of the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence,  who convicted the Lagos-based Pastor Anyanwu for impregnating the 13 and 17-year old sisters, who have been delivered of babies.
Justice Soladoye held that the evidence of the prosecution witnesses were believable and consistent and described the convict as morally-bankrupt self acclaimed Pastor.
The Judge noted that the Police ought to have charged the parents of the victims alongside the convict and described the parents as irresponsible, saying that they encouraged the survivors to get defiled by the defendant.
“On several occasions, one of the survivors went back to the parents to complain about the conduct of the defendant. She was beaten and sent back to the defendant’s home.”
“The prosecution has proved the ingredients of the offences against the morally-bankrupt defendant,” she said.
The Judge ordered that Pastor Anyanwu should have his name written in the State’s Sexual Offenders Register.
Pastor Anyanwu committed the offences on 3rd  August, 2020, at Arowojobe Street, Oshodi area of Lagos State, where the church was located. He was arrested and charged before the Court and he pleaded not guilty and was put under trial.
The prosecution team – Mr. Olusola Soneye, Mrs. Olufunke Adegoke and Ms Abimbola Adegoke, called five witnesses including the victims, their parents and a social worker.
The convict testified as the sole defence witness.
According to the prosecution, Anyanwu defiled and impregnated the sisters on the pretext of holding prayer sessions with them.
The Court found him guilty and sentenced accordingly under the Criminal Law of Lagos State.
