Pastor, 54, Arrested Over S*x With Girl, 12

A 54-year old cleric, Pastor Niyi Omowodun, was allegedly caught in a sexual act with a 12-years old girl (name withheld), in an uncomplicated building.

According to the Ogun State PPRO, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspect, who resides at Ejigun Agbede Itele Ota in Ado-odo Local Government area of the state was arrested on Monday, 29th of June, 2020.

According to him, the suspect was arrested following a complaint by the father of the girl, who reported at Itele Divisional Headquarters that while he was at his work place, he received a call from one of his neighbours that her daughter had been sexually abused by the suspect and that the said neighbour caught the man in the act.

Upon the report, the DPO Itele Division, CSP Monday Unuigbe, detailed his detectives to go after the man and he was subsequently arrested.

On interrogation, the suspect, who claimed to be a Pastor at Helmet of Life International Church, confessed having unlawful carnal knowledge of the little girl. He stated further that he lured the small girl into an uncompleted building in the area when the girl was on an errand. When asked whether he had no wife, the suspect explained that he had separated with his wife since 2016.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Kenneth Ebrimson, has ordered the transfer of the suspect to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal investigation and intelligence Department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
