PASTOR ARRESTED FOR ROBBERY

A 36-year old man, self acclaimed pastor and General Overseer of God’s Favour Ministry Iba in Lagos State, Pastor Daniel Onwugbufor has been arrested alongside his accomplice 27-year old Isreal Animashaun by men of the Ogun State Police Command for armed robbery and being in possession of stolen properties.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the pastor was arrested on Thursday 1st of February, 2018 through technical intelligence by men of FSARS led by Uba Adams.

He said, “Their arrest followed series of
car snatching reports which the Command had been trying to
unravel and had been working on clues to smash the syndicate.

Their efforts paid off when one of the snatched cars a Lexus RX 330 SUV was tracked down to the pastor at his Iba residence consequence upon which the he was promptly arrested. His arrest led to the apprehension of Animashaun
who was an active member of a 3-man gang of armed robbery syndicate who specialised in snatching of exotic cars at gun point.

In his confessional statement, Animashaun confessed that he
and 2 others snatched the Lexus SUV at gun point in the Ajah area of
Lagos and took it to the pastor who used to help them in selling such stolen items.

He stated further that the pastor only paid him the sum of N350,000 for the car after using it for two weeks before he sent it to his other accomplice in Onitsha who was still at large. He also informed the police that he once robbed somebody of a Samsung galaxy handset which the pastor bought for N35,000 from him.

The pastor initially denied knowing Animashaun to be an armed robber but later confessed when confronted by the said Animashaun. He blamed his action on the devil. He informed the police that the snatched SUV has been sent to his accomplice in Onitsha but promised to work with the police to get the said accomplice arrested.

The police said efforts were on to get the Onitsha based accomplice arrested.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu has directed the FSARS operatives to intensify efforts to get all members of the syndicate arrested. He equally implored members of the public to always give out necessary information to the police in order to rid the State of criminals.
