Pastor Sent To Prison Over Unlawful Encroachment

A 38-year old man, Felix Moses who claimed to be the pastor-in-charge of Capernaum Christian Ministry located at Tijani Ashogbon Street, Bariga, Lagos has been arraigned before a Lagos State Magistrate Court for allegedly encroaching into a property belonging to one Mr. Toyin Omonijo.
The accused was arrested by the Operatives of the Federal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos and charged before an Igbosere Magistrate Court on a one count charge of felony to wit unlawful encroachment into a property.
Police counsel, Supol Henry Obiazi informed the court in charge No A/12A/2018 that the accused committed the offense in 2016 at Bariga, Lagos.
Obiazi told the Court that the accused unlawfully encroached into the landed property belonging to Omonijo and built a church on the land without permission from the complainant.
He said during investigation the accused told the Police that God directed him to forcefully take over the land and build a church on the land.
Obiazi said that the offence the accused committed is punishable under section 4(5) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused however, pleaded not guilty to the charge in the open court and Chief Magistrate O.O Oshin granted him bail in the sum of N250,000 with one surety in like sum.
Oshin adjourned the case till March 27 and ordered that the defendant be kept at the Ikoyi Prison, Lagos till he fulfills the bail conditions.
