PDP National Secretary, Anyanwu Comes Under Fire

The National Secretary of the People Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, has come under heavy criticism following his plans to institute legal action against the Imo State Chapter of the PDP and Rt. Hon. Emeka  Ihedioha, the supposed leader of the party in the state.
This development it was learnt, has sparked angry reactions both within the party and across the state, with members of public, questioning his real motive.
Barr. Gozie Nwachukwu, Secretary of the Divine Mandate Movement, a political campaign organisation of Senator Anyanwu, at a radio programme on Boss FM, on Saturday in Owerri, disclosed that Senator Anyanwu will challenge the popular clamour for the PDP Governorship candidature of Hon. Emeka Ihedioha in Court.
According to Nwachukwu, “We have so many options on the table to making sure that Hon. Ihedioha does not attempt to contest again, no matter the circumstance or clamour for him.  Among the options, is a legal action. Yes, his reported interest to fly the party’s flag in the 2023 election is actionable in Court. And we will stop at nothing until we bring him down. He should allow others run”.
Nwachukwu, who got zero vote, in the recently held House of Assembly Primaries for Aboh MbIase State Constituency, was said to have irked listeners when he threw shades at the achievements of the Hon. Ihedioha led Rebuild Imo administration within the seven months it lasted.
Callers, who phoned in during the programme, expressed shock at the choice of words of Nwachukwu and his co discussants, who are also Anyanwu’s allies.
Emmanuel Duru, who called from World Bank Estate, decried what he termed, “pull him down syndrome in Imo State”, and wondered why the National Secretary is after Ihedioha’s downfall even after supporting him to the Senate and the current office he occupies in Abuja.
Honestly I’ve been listening to this programme and as a PDP member, I feel so ashamed that people, who call themselves PDP members or leaders could be castigating our party and insulting His Excellency,  Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, our leader who has done the party proud. If, as you said, you will action the interest of Hon. Ihedioha in Court, then it is obvious that Samdaddy only wants to destroy the PDP. That is the truth. Since you started this programme, it has been Ihedioha Ihedioha Ihedioha. What wrong did he commit by standing firm for the party when Samdaddy dragged the party up to Supreme Court to nullify our congresses and collapse the party. My advice for him is to watch his steps and desist from being a tool in the hands of APC” Duru said.
Another caller, Chief Chimdi Okere from Ubomiri, expressed disgust with the radio station, thus, “This programme is biased. You cant have the agents of Samdaddy Campaign Organisation or whatever they call themselves in the studio to be insulting the PDP and Ihedioha because of 2023.  Mike Ikokwu must stop using his Boss FM radio to be fanning disunity and rancour in Imo PDP. Is Ikokwu a member of the PDP? We know him as a close ally and confidant of Governor Uzodinma. Meanwhile he is owing Boss FM staff over five months salary arrears. With the way you people are going, I can confirm that Samdaddy is working for Hope Uzodinma and it is a fact. He worked for him in 2019 and still working for him to stop Ihedioha”.
Meanwhile, the Acting National Youth Leader of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Comrade Jones FCC Onwuasoanya, recently, raised an alarm that there are signs suggesting that Senator Samdaddy Anyanwu could be an agent of Governor Hope Uzodimma to scuttle the bright chances of the PDP in 2023 election.
Worried by this conspiracy, Onwuasoanya, a respected social crusader and an unbiased public commentator, alerted the public in a recent open letter to Samdaddy, of an unholy alliance between the ruling APC and the National  Secretary.
“I do not see how the Ikeduru born politician could have any realistic chance of securing the PDP gubernatorial ticket”, he said, “except he conjures some delegates list for the primaries. But, this will inadvertently set the PDP on fire and probably diminish any chances they had of winning the general election.”
“There are suspicions in some quarters that Samdaddy might have secured a deal with Governor Hope Uzodimma, and would prefer to whittle down the PDP’s chances so that Uzodimma can secure a second term easily and handover to him in 2028…”
A Chieftain of the PDP in Ikeduru LGA, Chief Bob Unachukwu, a kinsman of the National Secretary, has challenged him to publish the results of his polling unit in the 2015 and 2019 general elections if he claims to be a true party man.
Chief Unachukwu, a retired Superintendent of Police, while dismissing Senator Anyanwu’s claim of a committed PDP loyalist, said, ” Someone cannot claim to be a true and committed party without winning his polling unit and ward during elections. I dare Samdaddy to make public results of his booth in the 2015 and 2019 general election for us to know truly if he’s with us or against us. That is the much I can say”.
“When he publishes the results, then we will take it from there. But before that, let me say this, anybody that is fighting Rt Hon. Ihedioha is fighting God and the people of Imo State. I say so because Ihedioha represents the yearning of the people for good governance in Imo State.”
As a Retired Police officer, I know a lot. And I will not shy away from saying the things I know about Uzodinma and Samdaddy on air when the time comes. These are birds of the same feather. Do they think we are fools? How can Samdaddy dream of being Governor of Imo State? We know Samdaddy and he knows we know him. So how does he expect Ndimo to trust him with our mandate?” he queried.
