A 30-year old man, Akeem Bello, has dumped her fiancée, Olaotan Oladapo and used her N2m to get married to another woman over suspicion that she may not be pregnant having induced several abortions in the course of their relationship.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Akure, Ondo State, where they met and became lovers.
The man, Mr. Bello, has been arrested and charged before Justice C.M. Akinwumi of an Akure Magistrates Court for fraud.
Bello was arraigned on two count charges of fraud and obtaining by false pretense for allegedly defrauding his girlfriend, Olaotan Oladapo, of the sum of N2 million.
The estranged lovers, Bello and Oladapo, started their romantic affair in 2018,  before Oladapo travelled abroad for greener pastures and was sending down money in preparation for their marriage.
However, from 2020, Bello started to convert the money sent to him by Oladapo to his personal use and used it to get another woman.
The prosecutor, Inspector A. Ajeniwa, informed the Court that Bello got married to another lady instead and alleged that Oladapo’s womb may have been damaged due to series of abortions done in the course of the relationship, which prompted him to defraud the victim.
The prosecutor alleged that the offences contravened Sections 383 and 421,390 (b and c) of the Criminal Code Cap. 37. Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
The Court did not grant Bello bail having heard the prosecutor’s submission on the case. The Magistrate rather ordered the remand of the defendant at Olokuta Custodial Centre in Ondo State.
The matter was adjourned till 2nd November, 2022, for further hearing.
