The arrest of a dismissed police Inspector who allegedly shot and killed his colleague in Osun  State while they were both on duty and ran to Lagos to resume duty has really exposed the structural defect in the police force.
The officer (name withheld) was arrested by the Area Commander Idimu, ACP Austines Akika after he had operated for three years without  detection until recently.
After his interrogation, it was discovered that he had been operating illegally in the command, extorting money and creating bad image to the police.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the officer shot his colleague after they had disagreement while on duty in Osun State and he managed to escape murder trial and was dismissed from the Force three years ago.
He did not mind the dismissal but all he did was to change location and came to Lagos with fake signal from Police Headquarters in Abuja and resumed duty at Igando division under Area M Command.
However, luck ran out on him when one of the transferred officer who knew he was dismissed informed the authority who ordered his arrest and taken to the state Command.
It was gathered that during investigation he insisted he was not dismissed but only transferred to Lagos only to be  discovered that he forged the signal papers.
He was subsequently detained from where he was reportedly charged to court.
When P.M .EXPRESS visited Area M Command, Akika was not around to comment on  the matter.
However police sources confirmed the arrest.
