Police operatives from the Lagos State Command have begun manhunt for five men, who allegedly conspired and gang raped a16-year old girl and damaged her private part in the process.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 13th September, 2022, at Ralitu Daramola Street, Abegunleko area of Ikotun, Lagos, where they reside.
The victim’s private part was said to have been badly damaged due to forcefully penetration and was taken to an undisclosed hospital, where she is being treated over the injury she sustained during the dastardly act.
The incident was reported to the Police, who moved into action and two of the suspects, Monday Olukunle, 25 and Tunde Babatunde, 21, have been arrested and charged for conspiracy and defilement while others three were said to be at large.
However, when they were arraigned, the Court did not take their plea after the prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice since the alleged offence attracts severe punishment in the interest of justice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, ordered their remand in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when the DPP’s report will be ready and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
