Police Begin Manhunt For Criminals With 5 Suspects Arrested With Assorted Weapons

The directives of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police CP Adegoke  Fayoade to the Command’s officers may have started yielding results as Police begin manhunt for criminals across the State.  
P.M.EXPRESS reports that after the arrest of the criminal gang led by Tochukwu Nonso, who were terrorizing motorists at Otedola bridge, the Police have equally arrested other criminals across the State.
Last Sunday, the Police arrested two  suspected armed robbers, Ademola Adeniyi, 38, and Anjorin Afeez, 41, who allegedly hid three locally-made pistols in a minibus by the operatives of Rapid Response Squad during a routine patrol in Adekunle area of Yaba, Lagos. They were apprehended and detained at the Command undergoing interrogation over their alleged conduct.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, “Operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) on Sunday, 5th May, 2024, at about 10:00 pm., arrested two suspected robbers and recovered three locally made pistols, as well as six cartridges inside a minibus in Adekunle, Yaba”.
“The operatives, on routine patrol of the area, intercepted the Ketu/Ojota bound Lagos-colored minibus, popularly known as Korope.  Upon searching the vehicle, three locally made pistols and six cartridges were recovered while two suspects, Ademola Adeniyi, aged 38, and Anjorin Afeez, aged 41, were arrested.”
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang members boarded the bus at Jeba Bus Stop, Ebute Metta, and were on their way for a robbery operation. The suspects are currently assisting the Police in ongoing investigations.”
While the Police were still investigating the suspects, the operatives apprehended another three persons identified as cultists for armed robbery and being in possession of firearms in different areas of the metropolis.
The suspects, Efanyi Chukwu, 23, Alexander Chiemerie, 28 were arrested in the Jakande-Lekki area, while Chinonso Bright was arrested in Iba area of Lagos State.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Hundeyin  confirmed the arrest of the suspects and expressed his gratitude to the public for volunteering the intelligence that led to the arrest of the suspected armed robbery gang.
“Thank you, Lagosians, for giving us useful information. Your information led to the arrest of suspected cultist/armed robber Chinonso Bright, aged 34 in the Iba area of Lagos State.”
“Investigation then led to the further arrest of Efanyi Chukwu aged 23 and Alexander Chiemerie aged 28 in the Jakande-Lekki area,” Hundeyin stated.
He listed items recovered from the arrested suspects to include three locally made semi-automatic pistols, one locally made revolver, four rounds of live cartridges, and 129 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
The Lagos Police image maker further stated that the suspects will be arraigned before the Court for their alleged criminal conduct after the conclusion of an ongoing investigations by the Police.
“Thank you again, Lagosians. With your help, three dangerous persons and four dangerous weapons are off the streets. Policing is everyone’s business. See something, say something,” SP Hundeyin said.
