Police Hands Off Sowore’s Case Over Lack Of Evidence

The Lagos State Police Command has hands off from the matter involving the publisher of SaharaReporters, Mr Omoyele Sowore and his estranged friend, Lekan Fatodu.

The state commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni reportedly thrown out complaint against Sowore because the complainant has been unable to establish a criminal offence of blackmail and threat to his life.
On the allegation of defamation of character, the CP reportedly advised the complainant to approach civil court for legal redress.
The arrest of Sowore have triggered a rift between the police and the public who viewed the whole scenario as a civil matter while the complaint ought to have approached the court for a redress.
But the police insisted that there are criminal allegation which the police must investigation as an institution vested with such power.
The sudden change of mind by the police, P.M.EXPRESS gathered has to do with the controversy generated by the manner Sowore was arrested which drew public sympathy in his favour.
The gladiators, Sowore and Fatodu, have been trading blames and threatened to deal with each other, which might have come to an end with the latest police position on the matter.
