How Police Officer Shot Colleague Dead

Tragedy struck over the weekend after a Police man shot his colleague dead in Igando Division while chasing motorcycle operators a.k.a Okada in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on Saturday at Igando Bus Stop in Igando area of Lagos, where the officers had gone to arrest Okada riders over traffic offences.
The identity of both the victim and the officer, who killed the deceased in question, were not yet disclosed by the Police authority, who were said to be grieved over the sad incident.
It was gathered that the officers went to the bus stop to arrest Okada riders and one of them was apprehended but the operator struggled to escape. Then the officer reportedly shot with the AK47 he had with him and killed his colleague in the process instead.
The victim fell down and was said to have bled profusely due to gunshot but was then rushed to the hospital, where doctors confirmed him dead.
The corpse was deposited at an undisclosed mortuary for autopsy report while the officer, who shot the deceased, reported to the DPO and he was subsequently detained for murder.
When P.M.EXPRESS correspondent visited the Igando Division, the DPO, CSP Taiwo, was not around to comment on the matter.
However, sources at the Police Station confirmed the incident, which has thrown the whole officers in the station into mourning. It was also not yet confirmed if the officers had any issue between them before the incident happened in order to determine if the shooting was deliberate.
The sources declined to mention both the names of the deceased and the officer, who shot him.
The residents also confirmed the incident and expressed sadness over the incident while passing the blame on some Police officers, who usually harass and arrest Okada riders in order to extort money from them.
When the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, was contacted on phone over the matter, he did not pick his calls.
