Police Officers Cry Out To IGP Egbetokun Over Alleged Delay Promotion

Concerned  Senior Police Officers of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP have appealed to the listening Nigeria’s Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun and the Police Service Commission,  PSC  Chairman, Mr. Hashimu Agungu to come to their rescue and urgently approve their long overdue promotion to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP to further boost their morale for the job.

Some of the Officers who spoke with PMEXPRESS under strict conditions of anonymity –because they are under the Civil Servant rule and not authorised to speak with the press– said that they decided to let the Authority know that their promotion to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP is Overdue.

They stated that they were promoted from the rank of Inspector to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police on 8 December, 2018 and confirmed on 8 December, 2020 and that they have been expecting their promotion to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP since 2023 and that they are now appealing to the IGP Egbetokun and PSC Chairman Agungu to promote them to the next rank to boost their morale and gallantry for the job.

According to one of the Officers, “We Senior Police officers of the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP had been patiently waiting for the Authority to promote us to the next rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police after about six years in one rank and we are still waiting as a Civil Servant but we decided to cry out when we learnt that some of our junior Assistant Superintendent of Police Officers are being promoted to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police.

Another Police officers stated, “We commend our boss, IGP Egbetokun for his wonderful performance since he assumed office and PSC Chairman, Mr. Agungu for transforming and repositioning the Commission within a short time of assuming office and we are now appealing to the two leaders to complete their achievements by approving our promotion to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP to further boost our morale and dedication for the job, the Officer pleaded.
