The wife of a Nigerian Police officer serving under the Lagos State Command, Mrs. Kucheli Joshua, has landed in trouble after she allegedly boiled and poured hot water on her 14-year old step son, Master Isaac Joshua, inside the barracks.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the 28-year old Mrs Joshua has been arrested.

The incident happened at Block 12, Queens Barracks, located at Apapa, where the victim, Isaac, lives with the step mother, Mrs Kucheli and other members of the family.

According to Police sources, the boy’s mother left him with the father years ago and the father later got married to his stepmother, Kucheli, who was said to have other children for the Police man, Joshua.

However, the woman was said to have been unable to cope with the boy, who is not her biological son and was said to have treated him badly before the recent incident.

She was said to have boiled water, poured it on his body and inflicted serious injury on him.

It was gathered that after the incident, other Police officers in the barracks raised alarm and informed the Police authority that the woman may commit murder in the barracks if she was not controlled.

The boy was recused and the woman was handed over to the Police for interrogation over the dastardly conduct on the victim.

After thorough interrogation, the Police found her culpable and subsequently charged her before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.

When she was arraigned, she pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to the charge to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubeinje, granted her bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

She was remanded in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 5th July, 2022, for mention.
