Police Smash Generator Stealing Syndicate

The police at Idimu Division have smashed a syndicate who specializes in stealing heavy duty generators from dealers’ shops at night in Lagos State, Nigeria.
The suspects arrested are Sunday Ojo of 16 Idimogun Down Below Glorious Estate, Ogijo, Ogun State and Usman Momoh of 14, Aiyedun street Olowora, Isheri Berger, Lagos.
According to the police, their arrest followed a report by Jacob Ogunniyi of 127 Ikotun-Idimu Road Arida, Lagos to Idimu Police Station that the suspects stole two Lister Sound Proof 17.5KVA generators valued at N550,000 and 16KVA also valued at N500,000.

The generators were displayed for sale in front of his shop when the suspects allegedly came with a crane and stole them.
The DPO,  SP Fayomi Solomon Adebayo, dispatched a team of detectives which discovered where one of the stolen generators was already displayed for sale at Alhaji Bakinson Street, off Olarewaju Street, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos.
The police used an undercover agent who negotiated to buy one of the displayed stolen generators.
The undercover cop was asked to place an order by depositing N100,000 and when the suspects appeared for the balance of the money they were arrested.
The police also recovered the two stolen Lister Sound Proof Generators  with two other stolen generators displayed for sale.
Also, the sum of N100,000 and one Honda Accord car with registration number BDG 158 CF, were recovered and kept as exhibits at Idimu Police Station.
The crane truck with registration number AGL 942 XN used in conveying the stolen generators was tracked to a motor garage at Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos, while the  driver, Gabriel Jokotoye of  2, Ifeoluwa Street, Ifako, Lagos, surrendered himself at Idimu Police Station.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident and commended the efforts of the officers who investigated the matter.
She said the suspects will be charged to court for the offence of conspiracy and stealing.
