This may not be the best of times for female Police Officers in the Lagos State Command following the recent public assaults while performing their lawful duties.

While the issue of a Police woman, who was attacked and beaten up mercilessly in Ojo area of Lagos by a dismissed soldier, was still trending in the social media, P.M.EXPRESS reports that another Police woman was reported to have been assaulted and stripped naked in public in similar manner in the Shasha area of Lagos.

The female Police Sergeant, Blessing Umulede, had her uniform torn and she was reportedly naked in public after she went to rescue her female colleague, Folashade Joshua, who was attacked where she went to invite a woman, Mrs. Florence Felix, to the Police Station over allegations of threat to life against her by a neighbour.

The incident happened at Oguntade area of Shasha, where the prime suspect, Mrs. Florence Felix, resides.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that Mrs. Florence refused to follow the female officer, Folashade, to the Police Station at Shasha Division; instead she mobilised her children and neighbours to assault her.
The other female officer, Blessing, got the information and went to rescue Folashade. When she got there, she was equally attacked and she had her clothes torn into pieces.
It took the intervention of another officer, Supol Bernard Odibor, who was also assaulted in the process, to mobilize Police Officers from Shasha Division to arrest the suspects.

Other suspects arrested apart from Mrs. Florence were Joel Felix, Chucks Felix, Joel Felix, Oyewo Olaniyi and Jubril Olaniyi.

They were later charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for conspiracy and assault on the Police Officers.
They pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simon Njue, did not object to their being granted bail.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.S. Okubule, granted them bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
They were remanded in the Correctional Centre pending when they will perfect their bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 26th August, 2020.
