Policeman, Alfa Son Shot During Gun Battle With Armed Gang In Lagos

A yet to be identified policeman and the son of an Islamic cleric known as Alfa have been reportedly shot and several people injured during a gun battle between the police and suspected members of a gang group in Lagos.
The incident happened Wednesday’s afternoon at Oboye street in Ejigbo, which is known to be a hiding place for notorious gangs who commit all forms of criminal activities such drug dealings and advanced fee fraud popularly known as 419.
Eye witness told P.M.EXPRESS that a team of policemen stormed the place based on report of criminal activities going on in the area to effect arrests.
But they were shocked when members of the gang resisted and started shooting at them. There were casualties from both sides before the gang managed to escape.
Our correspondent learnt that a stray bullet hit a boy who is the son of an Alfa. He was rushed to LUTH where doctors are battling to save his life.
PM EXPRESS gathered that due to the sporadic shooting in the area, parents started panicking and rushed to various schools of their wards to withdraw them from schools.
When our correspondent visited Ejigbo Police Division, it was learnt that the gang popularly called Oboye Boys mobilized and went to the station to attack the police, but the police mobilized and chased them away.
The DPO was not around to comment on the matter, however, our correspondent observed that the station was tensed up because of the incident.
Effort to get the side of the police from Lagos PPRO proved abortive, but residents who spoke to our correspondent confirmed the incidents, while parents were apprehensive on what will happen next.
