The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu has expressed deep sadness over the death of the Olubadan of Ibadan, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.

In a statement issued shortly after the announcement of the passage of the traditional ruler, the Minister who is also the Agbaakin Parakoyi of Ibadanland, expressed his condolences to the immediate family of the monarch, the Olubadan in Council, the entire traditional institution in Ibadanland, sons and daughters of Ibadanland, and the good people of Oyo State on the transition of the revered monarch.

While expressing his loss, Chief Adelabu said the passing of Oba Olakulehin marks the end of an era of exemplary leadership, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to the progress of Ibadanland.

“Though his reign was not as long as we expect, his tenure was a testament to his deep commitment to the unity, cultural preservation, and socio-economic development of his domain. As a father, custodian of tradition, and unifying figure, he left an indelible mark on the hearts of his people.

“In this moment of grief, we take solace in the enduring legacies of peace, stability, and development that he championed throughout his lifetime. His departure is not only a loss to Ibadan but to the entire Yoruba race and Nigeria as a whole.

“May the Almighty God grant his soul eternal rest and comfort the royal family, the Olubadan-in-Council, and the entire Ibadan community. Let us honor his memory by upholding the values of unity, peace, and progress that he so passionately upheld”.
